Smoke Detector Giveaway

Ganite Shoals Fire Department's Free Smoke Detector Drive

The Granite Shoals Fire Department has been given a supply of Smoke detectors to establish a "Smoke Detector and Installation" Program. If you are in need of a smoke detector, please contact the Granite Shoals Fire Department and set up an appointment for installation or drop by the fire station and pick one up for your house.

Smoke Detectors were donated by the Law firm of Wayne Wright and Associates.

Pro-Pac Distributing Corp. Agrees to Pay $125,000 Civil Penalty for Failing to Report Drawstrings in Children's Sweatshirts
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Pro-Pac Distributing Corporation, of Gardena, Calif., has agreed to pay a civil penalty in the amount of $125,000, resolving CPSC staff allegations that Pro-Pac knowingly failed to report to CPSC immediately, as required by federal law, that two different children's hooded sweatshirts it imported and distributed had drawstrings at the neck.


Rechargeable Spotlights Recalled by Innovage Due to Burn Hazard
The spotlight's charging adapter can overcharge the battery, forcing it to rupture and leak battery acid. This poses a chemical burn hazard to consumers.


Simms Fishing Products Recalls Wading Staffs Due to Fall Hazard
The wading staff can collapse posing a fall hazard to consumers.

The light blue plastic wheels on the train cars can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.


Subwoofer Speakers Recalled by Paradigm Electronics Due to Fire Hazard
The subwoofer can overheat when the speaker system is played at high outputs for an extended period of time, posing a fire hazard to consumers.


The 2010 Pool Safely Summer Snapshot; CPSC and HSC Release Summer Figures on Child Drownings
As children across America go back-to-school, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Home Safety Council (HSC), a Pool Safely campaign partner, are releasing a snapshot on drowning incidents for the 2010 summer swimming season.


No Specific Cause Found Yet Linking Dry Max Diapers to Diaper Rash
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC) have reviewed consumer incident reports and other information involving Pampers Dry Max diapers. To date, the review has not identified any specific cause linking Dry Max diapers to diaper rash.

Magnetic Maze Boards Recalled by Lakeshore Learning Materials Due to Choking, Intestinal and Aspiration Hazards
The magnetic maze board's plastic wand can separate and expose a magnet that can be a choking hazard to children. Also, if a child has more than one of these toys and the magnets detach and are swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.


Television Wall Mounts Recalled by Milestone AV Technologies Due to Injury Hazard
The elbow joint components on the wall mount's arm do not fit together properly, causing the attached television to tilt and possibly fall when the television is adjusted. This could pose an injury hazard to a consumer.
